Mix tapes are fascinating products in and of themselves. The good thingabout them is that you usually to get to hear exclusive tracks that are noton commercial releases and you also get to hear undiscovered raw emceesthat have yet to blow. DJ Graffiti drops a mix tape that delivers justthat. Throughout the set, you get to hear joints from some of hip-hop'spowerhouses (e.g. Jurassic 5, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, etc.) as well as manyof the underground's most talked about emcees (One Man Army, S.U.N.,Athletic Mic League). In addition, there are several cats that get youamped for their future product (Eternia, Crisis Center, Illogic). One thing you'll find about Graffiti's mix tapes is that he doesn't screamover the tracks every 2 minutes in an effort to hide a lack of turntableability. He's a true DJ in every sense of the word: blending dope beatsperfectly and gracing us with a little bit of scratch wizardry. And as atestament to the respect he has in the game, peep some of the guests whodrop by with Sound Drops (Dilated Peoples, MC Lyte, Atmosphere, Royce5'9"). As with all mix tapes, the only drawback is that you don't get tohear the entire song for alot of the hot joints. But if that's the onlycomplaint, then it is obvious this is one of the better mix tapes that'sout and definitely one to have in rotation.
